Businessmen Request Approval of EU Agreement

Business chambers in Costa Rica asked Congress for the prompt adoption of the Association Agreement with the European Union.

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Monica Segnini, president of the Chamber of Exporters of Costa Rica, said that there is a commitment by European lawmakers to approve the treaty in January 2013.

The businesswoman expected that the treaty may be approved before the end of the year, given that Nicaragua has already ratified it, and it will be enough if Europe and two Central American countries ratify it in order for the agreement to take effect.

"Rafael Carrillo, representing the Costa Rican Union of Chambers and Associations of Private Business Sector (UCCAEP), said efforts will be focused on convincing the deputies that this procedure is urgent", published Nacion.com.
