Commercial Exchange
Central America's imports from Peru and its exports to the South American country have averaged $490 million annually for the years 2013-2017.

During the first three months of 2018, trade between the region and Peru generated $120 million, a 3% increase over the same period in 2017.

Main products marketed
From January to March of this year, the main purchases made by Central American countries were some fuels and their derivatives, plastic articles and food sector products. In general, these three types of products considerably determine the sales made by Peruvian companies to their counterparts in Central America.

Regarding exports from Central America, the sale of sugar and confectionery, iron or steel products and pharmaceuticals are noteworthy.

Exports by country
In 2017, Guatemala was the region's largest exporter to Peru, with sales of $71 million. It was followed by Costa Rica with $21 million, Nicaragua with $19 million, El Salvador with $9 million, Honduras with $6 million and Panama with $2 million.

Imports by country
Last year, Panama was Peru's largest importer of goods, reporting $137 million in purchases. It was followed by Costa Rica with $61 million, Guatemala with $57 million, El Salvador with $39 million, Honduras with $36 million and Nicaragua with $30 million.
