Business Union Begins to Reintegrate

With the election of Alvaro Saenz Saborío as the new president of UCCAEP, the Chamber of Industries and the Chamber of Banana Growers decided to return to the largest business association in Costa Rica.

Thursday, November 28, 2019

Weeks ago, the Chambers of Commerce and Industries and the banana growers' guild left UCCAEP, affirming that they were withdrawing because of differences with Gonzalo Delgado, the businessman who presided over the organization until November 6.

With the election of Álvaro Saenz Saborío as the new president, the Chamber of Industries and the Chamber of Banana Growers decided to return to the top. In the case of the Chamber of Commerce, it is still outside the organization.

From the UCCAEP statement:

November 27, 2019. With the unanimous support of the members, businessman Álvaro Saenz Saborío was elected president of the Unión Costarricense de Camaras y Asociaciones de la Empresa Privada (UCCAEP).

The election took place this Wednesday at the facilities of UCCAEP, during the General Assembly of Associates of that group, which was attended by almost all of its members.

Saenz Saborío occupied the position on an interim basis; according to the statutes of the Union of Chambers, a general vote of the assembly members was required in order to ratify him in his new position.
