Business Confidence Grows to 7%

After registering a 6% year-on-year rise in August, in September the Confidence in Economic Activity Index in Guatemala showed a 7% variation.

According to the last report of the Banco de Guatemala, an inflationary rhythm of 4.08% is forecast for September, of 4.22% for October and of 4.29% for November 2019. Regarding December 2019 and 2020, the Panel foresees an inflationary rhythm of 4.43% and 4.46%, in that order, reported the Central Bank of Guatemala.

The official document explains that "... The Panel estimates that the Real Gross Domestic Product will register a 3.0% growth in 2019 and 3.1% in 2020. Compared to the August survey, the Panel forecast for both 2019 and 2020 decreased 0.1 percentage points (3.1% and 3.2% in the previous survey, respectively).

The Economic Activity Confidence Index of the Panel of Private Analysts has the purpose of measuring the perception of the current economic situation and business environment of the economic analysts interviewed, which is compared to the prevailing index in the recent past.

In September 2019, the level of the Confidence Index of Economic Activity was at 47.08 points, higher by 0.81% regarding the registered in August 2019 (46.70 points) and higher by 7.00% regarding the registered in September 2018 (44.00 points).

Business Confidence: Good Numbers Continue

December 2019

In November of this year, the Index of Confidence in Economic Activity in Guatemala reported a 28% growth with respect to the same month in 2018, reinforcing the upward trend that has been registered since July 2019.

Businessmen forecast an inflationary rhythm of 3.34% and 3.54% for November and December 2019, respectively, as well as 3.69% for January 2020.

Strong Rebound in Business Confidence

In October of this year the Index of Confidence in Economic Activity in Guatemala reported an 18% growth with respect to the same month in 2018, reinforcing the upward trend that has been registered since July 2019.

Entrepreneurs forecast an inflation rate of 3.50% for October, 3.81% for November and 3.94% for December 2019.

Business Confidence Keeps Improving

After registering year-on-year rises of 7% and 6% in July and August, respectively, in September the Confidence in Economic Activity Index in Guatemala showed a 7% variation.

An inflationary rhythm of 4.08% is forecast for September, of 4.22% for October and of 4.29% for November 2019.

Business Confidence Remains Down in 2019

March 2019

After January 2019 the Confidence in Economic Activity Index in Guatemala reported a 3% y-o-y decrease, in February the variation was of -8% regarding the same month of 2018.

The report of the Bank of Guatemala summarizes that during February "... An inflationary rhythm of 3.96% was forecast for February, 4.09% for March and 4.19% for April 2019.
