Business Conference in Guatemala

Enade 2018 will be held on October 11 and its central theme will be solving the problem of the housing deficit that is affecting the country.

Enade 2018 is being organized by the Foundation for the Development of Guatemala and will take place on Thursday, October 11 at 2:00 pm, at the Hotel Westin Camino Real Convention Center in Guatemala City.

Regarding the topic to be discussed José Antonio Corrales, president of the organizing committee of Enade 2018, told Prensalibre.com that " ... 'Housing is the next axis to be addressed, as last year the central issue was infrastructure, in which there is progress and two years ago it was intermediate cities. To complement this, this year housing will be addressed."

Corrales explained that " ... the purpose is to resolve the conditions of habitability of the territory, based on an order that promotes harmony with the environment, comfort and continuous improvement of the quality of life of citizens. The idea is to unite the concepts of housing, neighborhoods and country development, in continuity with the issues highlighted in recent years."

Panama: Construction of Affordable Housing

The government has announced that over the next five years it will be allocating $1.5 billion for the construction of 35,000 housing units for low-income sectors.

From a statement issued by the Government of Panama:

Some 35,000 housing solutions built by the Government of the Republic of Panama in the next five years and 10,000 households will benefit from the Solidarity Fund Housing Program in accordance with the provisions of the Strategic Plan of Government (PEG) 2015 to 2019, having as one of its priority goals improving the quality of life of Panamanians through decent housing.

El Salvador to Host ENADE 2013

April 2013

The XIII National Private Enterprise Conference 2013 will be held on April 29, and will focus on the role of businesses and the investment climate.

The event will be held at the Sheraton Hotel Presidente from 1:30 pm. The current role of Salvadoran businesses will be discussed as well as prospects for improving the investment climate and socio-economic development of the country.

Central America's Housing Shortage

According to the IDB, the percentage of the population living in substandard homes or those who do not have adequate housing, reaches 78% in Nicaragua, 67% in Guatemala, 58% in El Salvador, 57% in Honduras, 39% in Panama and 18% in Costa Rica.

An IDB study indicates that over two thirds of households in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Bolivia and Peru live in poor housing.
