Buses: Company Advertises New Routes in the Region

Mexico's Cristobal Colon, a passenger carrier that began operations in Guatemala in 2018, announced that it plans to expand its routes to El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua.

The company currently covers local routes from the Guatemalan capital to Santa Elena, Poptún and El Chal in Petén. It also travels to Huehuetenango, La Mesilla, Camojá and Quetzaltenango, among others, as well as to Tapachula in Mexico.

Regarding the new routes, company directors informed Prensalibre.com that "... In the station of zone 10 will be the arrival and departure for international routes, for the time being will be to El Salvador and if you want to travel to Honduras and Nicaragua, first must make a connection in El Salvador."

In addition to the new routes, the company reported that they will make available to the public a new luxury service, which will be offered in buses of 24 reclining seats type reposet, WIFI on board, electrical connections, USB inputs, individual entertainment system, individual touch screens 12.5" HD, speed controlled surveillance cameras, coffee shop on board, among others.

Josef Valdez, commercial manager, said that "... the services they offer are at the forefront of the market and it is known that 'there is more than one type of traveler and therefore, we make available to the public two types of service: First and Diamond'."

Nicaragua Applies Retaliation Measures Against Costa Rica

December 2014

For a period of 30 days, the number of trips per month that can be made by the Costa Rican transport companies Tica Bus and Transnica, from Managua to Costa Rica, will be reduced from three to two.

This administrative penalty imposed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI) comes after the companies Tica Bus and Transnica were asked to improve conditions on the tours they provide including seats at bus stops and toilet services on the buses.

New Central American Tourist Route Presented

The Honduran Tourism Institute presented a new tourist guide of the region, "The Colonial and Volcanoes Route."

The new guidebook is aimed at promoting development of tourism in the region and promotes Central America as a competitive and quality destination.

The Secretary of Tourism of Honduras, Nelly Jerez, during the presentation pointed out that "Central America expects more cooperation from all tour operators in the region, especially airlines, to allow easier movement of visitors between the countries of the region and beyond," says the article in EFE.
