Construction Company Sought for Longitudinal Highway

The abandonment of work on section 3-B of the Longitudinal del Norte in El Salvador by the company in charge, has obliged Fomilenio to hire another company to complete the road.

Monday, August 27, 2012

An article in Laprensagrafica.com reports that "The Colombian consortium Contein-Cortázar and Gutiérrez-La Herrera left the construction site of section 3-B of the Highway Longitudinal del Norte a little over a week ago. The site is located in Chalatenango, and goes from Guarjila to access the bridge over the Lempa river, in Nombre de Jesús. "

"The delivery date of the section was set for August 14 this year, but was then moved to September 18, two days before FOMILENIO’ project would have been completed. Up to August 16, the company had made 80% progress in the works, and what is remaining is part of the earthworks, the asphalt and signaling, mainly. "

Carlos Duque, deputy executive director of FOMILENIO noted that "the contract will be made under the international guidelines of the International Federation of Construction Engineers (FIDIC)-a type of contract used by FOMILENIO- which states the call will be made to companies that have already worked with them and the next step will be a change order.
