Building Material Prices up to December 2019

At the end of last year, the sand yard in Panama grew 3% compared to December 2018, and the unplanned spaced timber foot grew 2%.

From the General Comptroller's report:

The average from January to December 2019, with respect to the same period in 2018, showed increases in the Indexes of the unit of the polarized box socket by 9.9%, of the No. 4 stone yard by 2.2%. In a similar condition, the IP of the galvanized corrugated zinc foot No. 26 and the sand yard, both increased by 1.8 %. Likewise, the IPs of the No. 4 Carriola foot and the No. 1 Clay Block increased by 0.3% each, and the No. 2 Unplaned Spaced Wood foot increased by 0.2%. In contrast, the IPs of the foot of the stranded electric cable No. 12 decreased by 5.8%, of the 30-foot stretch of the steel rod of ½" by 4.4%, of the 10-foot stretch of the PVC plastic pipe and of the 94-pound bag of gray cement, both by 2.5%. Also, the PIs of the cubic meter of Premixed Concrete were reduced by 1.8%, and of Cement Block No. 4 by 1.7%.

In December 2019, compared to the same period in 2018, the IPs that showed increases were: the Sand Yard by 2.6%, the Stone Yard No. 4 by 2.5%, the Polarized Box Outlet unit by 2.4%. Also, the unplanned spade foot increased by 2.0% and the clay block increased by 1.2%. On the other hand, the IP of the 30 foot stretch of the ½" steel rod decreased by 12.0%, the foot of the No. 4 Carrier by 9.1%, the 94 pound bag of gray cement by 6.7% and the foot of the No. 12 stranded electrical cable by 6.3%. In the same period, the IP of the foot of Zinc No. 26 corrugated galvanized by 2.7%, of the 10-foot stretch of PVC plastic pipe and the cubic meter of premixed concrete, both by 2.4%, and the IP of the percent of Cement Block No. 4 by 1.6%.

By December, the IP of the foot of the Carriola N°4 decreased, compared to November of this year, by 4.3%. Likewise, the IP of the 94-pound bag of gray cement decreased by 4.1%, of the foot of Zinc No. 26 corrugated galvanized by 1.7%, and of the 30-foot stretch of the steel rod of ½" by 0.8%. The remaining 9 materials of the 13 investigated, showed no variation over the price recorded in November 2019.

During the second month of the year in the country, the price of the sand yard grew 4% compared to the same month in 2018, and the No. 4 stroller foot fell by 12%.

From the General Comptroller of the Republic's report:

The accumulated average behavior of January - February 2020, regarding the same period in 2019, showed increases in the Price Indexes (PI) of the Sand Yard and the Stone Yard No.

October 2019

In the ninth month of the year, the polarized box outlet unit in Panama grew 12% from September 2018, and the stranded No. 12 power cable foot decreased 6%.

From the General Comptroller's Office report:

The average from January to September 2019, compared to the same period of 2018, showed increases in the Indexes of the unit of the current collector for polarized box in 11.6%, of the foot of the Carriola N°4 and of the Zinc N°26 corrugated galvanized, both in 3.1%.

In the third month of the year, the price of the polarized socket in Panama grew 15% over March 2018, and the foot of stranded electric cable increased 6%.

The average accumulated behavior from January to March 2019, compared to the same period in 2018, showed increases in the Price Indexes (IP) of the socket unit for polarized box in 13.3%, the foot of the Carriola N°4 in 8.1% and the foot of Zinc N°26 corrugated galvanized in 4.6%, informed the General Comptroller of the Republic.

November 2018

From January to October 2018 in Panama, the price of the 30-foot stretch of steel rod increased 14%, and the unit of the polarized socket increased 5%.

The average accumulated behavior from January to October 2018, with respect to the same period in 2017, showed increases in the Price Indexes (IP) of the 30-foot section of the steel rod of ½" by 13.8%, the unit of the current collector for polarized socket by 4.9%, and the foot of Stranded electric cable N°12 by 4.6%. On the other hand, the IP of the 10-foot section of the PVC plastic pipe decreased by 3.9%, the foot of Carriola N°4 by 3.7%, the one of the yard of Sand by 2.7% and the one hundred of Cement Block N°4 by 2.6%, reported the General Comptroller.
