Imports by country 
From January to March of this year, the main importer of bakery products in Central America was Guatemala, with $26 million, followed by Honduras, with $24 million, Nicaragua and Panama, with $19 million each, Costa Rica with $16 million and El Salvador, with $14 million. 

Price of imports 

From January 2012 to March 2018, the average price of a kilo of baked goods imported into countries in the region remained stable, ranging between $1.89 and $2.25.

Origin of imports 
During the first quarter of 2018, 13% of the value imported from Central America came from the USA, 7% from Mexico and 5% from Peru. 

Peru is the market of origin of the imports that has grown the most in the first quarter of the last seven years, as in 2012 it represented less than 1% of the purchased value, and in 2018 the proportion rose to 5%.

Variation of regional imports 
Between the first three months of 2017 and the same period in 2018, the import volume of bakery, pastry and biscuit products fell by 2%, going from 57,000 tons to 56,000 tons. 

For the periods in question, the import value registered a slight increase, increasing from $117 million to $118 million.
