Guatemalan Companies, Main Buyers
During 2018, the main importer of bakery products in Central America was Guatemala, with $119 million, followed by Panama, with $83 million, Honduras, with $76 million, Costa Rica, with $73 million, Nicaragua, with $68 million and El Salvador, with $58 million.

Purchase Prices
From January 2012 to December 2018, the average price per kilo of imported bakery products in the countries of the region has remained stable, ranging from $1.80 to $2.25.

Main Sellers
During 2018, 15% of the value imported from Central America was from the U.S., 6% from Mexico and 4% from Peru.

The U.S. is the market of origin of imports that has grown the most in the last seven years, since in 2012 represented 12% of the value purchased, and in 2018 the proportion rose to 15%.

Variation of Regional Imports
Between 2017 and 2018, the volume of imported bakery, pastry and cookies products did not change significantly, but the value imported decreased by 2%, from $483 million to $472 million.

In the case of purchases from the U.S., they went from $68.9 million to $70.3 million for the years in question.
