Panamanian Companies, Main Buyers
From January to June of this year, the main importer of bottled water in Central America was Panama, with $6 million, followed by El Salvador, with $1.8 million, Costa Rica, with $1.7 million, Guatemala, with $1.4 million, Honduras, with $1.1 million and Nicaragua with $800 thousand.

Variation in Regional Business
Between the first semester of 2018 and the same period of 2019, the value imported of bottled water in Central America did not register significant variations, since for both periods purchases amounted to $12.4 million.

U.S. Main Seller
In the first six months of the year, 58% of the value imported into the region came from the U.S., 7% from Italy, 7% from France, 2% from Mexico and 2% from Spain.

The U.S. is the market origin of imports that has grown the most for the period in question of the last eight years, since in 2012 represented 32% of total Central American purchases and in 2019 that proportion rose to 58%.

During 2018, bottled water imports into the region totaled $24 million, and purchases from U.S. companies reached $13.3 million, 5% more than in 2017.
