Bimbo Considers Plant in Nicaragua

This was announced by Mexico's ambassador to Managua, Mr. Raul Lopez Lira.

Lopez said the company will come to the country on a fact-finding mission, adding that Maseca is another Mexican company that is evaluating strengthening its presence in Nicaragua, with a corn flour processing plant.

Canal15.com.ni reports that "Mexican investment in Nicaragua amounts to $570 million, while trade exchanges reached $400 million in 2011."

Del Monte is planning an investment in Costa Rica of over $7 million in a processing plant in order to take advantage of the pineapple juice whose quality is not exportable.

Panama to Build Food Processing Center

The director of Panama’s Multimodal Hub program announced the construction of the $30 million center.

Manuel Fernández, director of the program “Hub Multimodal de Las Américas”, added that studies are being carried out to determine the best location for the center and that work is expected to begin next year.
