Bids Submitted for Market Construction for $25.8 million.

Four companies have submitted bids in the tender for the construction and equipping of a Public Market in Chitre whose official reference price was $27 million.

From a press release issued by the Government of Panama:

A total of four companies submitted proposals for the construction and equipping of a Public Market in Chitre, in the tender organized by the Secretariat of the Cold Chain, a work which is being conducted by the government and will benefit over 60,000 people in the region of Azuero .

In the act of bidding the consortium Consorcio Mercado Chitré, consisting of FCC Centroamérica y FCC Constructions, submitted an offer of $25,035,860, lower than the official price of $27 million for the construction of the work.

The competing company Consorcio Omega, composed of Omega Inc and Omega LCC offered the sum of $28,897,939, Consorcio Mercado de Chitré, comprising of Conalvías Up Corp, Arcesa and Conceptos y Espacio, bid $25,770,000 , and Consorcio HR offered the sum of $28,676,000.

Chitre Public Market will be raised on the grounds of the regional offices of the MIDA, on a plot measuring 11,631 meters square and will have a construction size of approximately 5000 meters square, located on the Carretera Nacional and Calle Estudiante in district of Chitre, Herrera Province.

Seven consortia have submitted bids for the construction and equipping of a market in Panama City, a project worth over $100 million.

The company's suppliers and their proposals are: Facilities and Services SACODEPO ($118, 900,000), SA Sacyr ($126,447,000), MCM Global ($124,999,000), Assignia-Cocige ($126,495,000), SA-Cleop Elecnor SA ($109,968,000), Omega Engineering ($126,500,000) and the Consortium Arranz kinase-Riva SA ($120,240,000).

Panama: Two Companies Bid for Designing Public Marketplaces

June 2010

Just two companies, Mercasa and CAU AH Domar, submitted bids for designing eight public marketplaces.

These marketplaces are part of a larger Cold Chain project, sponsored by President Martinelli’s administration.
