A statement from the Costa Rican Banking Association (ABC) reads:

First Financial Virtual Library

Banking system launches new information tool for users

- The Initiative aims to increase the levels of transparency between banks and consumers.

- Personal customers and small and medium enterprises are the main beneficiaries.

October, 2012. With the premise that an informed client will be able to make the best decisions, the Costa Rican Banking Association, ABC, unveiled the first Financial Virtual Library, in which everyone can access information of interest related to financial services.

The new tool is within the grasp of everyone, through the Internet, described in simple language and is friendly to navigate. The aim is for bank customers to have access to information that is accurate, neutral and geared especially towards personal customers and small and medium entrepreneurs.

The Costa Rican Assembly approved reforms that expand the powers of Sugef to regulate and supervise financial entities abroad and financial companies that are part of a Costa Rican financial group or conglomerate.

On November 18 the company Equifax Centroamérica, S.A. de C.V submitted a new application for authorization as a information agency for data relating to credit histories of individuals.

Web Access to Agexport Library

November 2012

More than 4,000 documents related to foreign trade, competitiveness, economic development, production, international economics and international law will be available.

The Virtual and Physical Library of the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (AGEXPORT), is open to all its members and the general public, making it possible for all materials and digital content which is available in physical format to be consulted via Internet (available only as Infoexport query).

Warnings in Panama Over Financial Fraud

The Superintendency of Banks in Panama is keeping a list containing names of companies that are not authorized to perform private banking or trust activities.

Current investigations into the company Pronto Cash has brought to the fore the risk of financial fraud by companies which are not controlled by the Superintendency of Banks.
