Beer: Production Decreases 3%

From January to August 2019, the production of alcoholic beverages in Panama was 194 million liters, and beer production fell 3% compared to the same period in 2018.

According to figures from the General Comptroller of the Republic, the production of alcoholic beverages in general reported a decline, reducing from 199.8 million liters from January to August 2018, to 193.9 million liters in the same period of 2019.

In the first eight months of 2019, Whisky registered a decrease in its production compared to the same period in 2018, falling from 9,696 liters to 9,048 liters, reporting a decrease of 7%.

For the months in question beer production decreased 3%, decreasing from 191.6 million liters in 2018 to 185.3 million liters in 2019.

As of August 2018, production of alcoholic beverages in Panama was 199.8 million liters, 3% less than in the same period in 2017.

According to the latest figures from the General Comptroller of the Republic, production of alcoholic beverages in general reported a decrease, falling from 205.8 million liters from January to August 2017, to 199.8 million liters in the same period in 2018.

Although beer consumption in Guatemala is low compared with other countries in the region, the entry of foreign brands such as the Chinese Tsingtao, Russian Baltika and the Peruvian Franca has boosted consumption. In 2010 alone 146.6 million liters of beer were sold.
