Guatemala, Main Buyer
In 2018, the main importer in Central America was Guatemala, with $117 million, followed by Costa Rica, with $104 million, Panama, with $81 million, El Salvador, with $80 million, Honduras, with $55 million and Nicaragua, with $48 million.

Variation in Regional Business
Between 2017 and 2018, the total value imported into Central America increased 7%, from $489 million to $521 million.

For the years concerned, purchases from Colombian companies reported an increase, in this case 14%, rising from $48 million to $55 million.

Origin of Imports
During 2018, 31% of the value imported from Central America came from Mexico, 19% from the U.S., 11% from Colombia and 3% from Spain.

In the last seven years, Colombia was the market of origin of imports that grew the most, given that in 2012 represented 7% of total Central American purchases and in 2018 that proportion reached 11%.

Personal Care in Guatemala: Figures Up to March 2018

August 2018

Between January and March of this year, companies in Guatemala imported $27 million worth of beauty and personal hygiene items, 3% more than in the same period in 2017, and 56% came from Mexico and the United States.
