Beauty and Personal Care: Market grows at 5%

In the first nine months of 2019, companies in the region imported $374 million in beauty and personal care items, 5% more than reported for the same period in 2018.

Guatemala, main buyer
From January to September 2019 the main importer in Central America was Guatemala, with $86 million, followed by Costa Rica, with $81 million, El Salvador, with $71 million, Panama, with $59 million, Honduras, with $42 million and Nicaragua, with $35 million.

Variation of the Regional Business
Between the first nine months of 2018 and the same period in 2019, the total value imported into Central America grew by 5%, from $358 million to $374 million.

For the periods in question purchases from Colombian companies reported an increase, in this case was 14% to rise from $ 36 million to $ 41 million.

Origin of Imports
From January to September 2019, 28% of the value imported from Central America came from Mexico, 23% from the USA, 11% from Colombia and 3% from Spain.

In the last eight years Colombia was the fastest growing import market, representing 8% of total Central American purchases in 2012 and 11% in 2018.
