Imports by country 
In 2017, the main importer in Central America was Guatemala, with $112 million, followed by Costa Rica, with $104 million, Panama, with $84 million, El Salvador, with $75 million, Honduras, with $61 million and Nicaragua, with $52 million. 

Variation of regional imports 
Between 2016 and 2017 the total value imported into Central America rose by 2%, growing from $477 million to $489 million last year. This rise contrasts with the reduction reported between 2015 and 2016, when imports fell by 2%, going from $482 million to $477 million.

Origin of imports 
In 2017, 31% of the value imported from Central America came from Mexico, 19% from the US, 10% from Colombia and 3% from France.

In the last six years, Columbia was the source market for the imports that grew the most, as in 2012 it represented 8% of all Central American purchases and in 2017 that proportion reached 10%.
