BPO Forum in El Salvador

On October 7th call center and shared services companies will meet to discuss issues related to the sector and review El Salvador's strategy for attracting foreign investment to this industry.

From a statement issued by the Export Promotion and Investment El Salvador (PROESA):

The Government
of El Salvador, through the Agency for Export and Investment Promoter of El Salvador (PROESA), will be holding on the 7th of October a forum on business services at a distance (SED by its initials in Spanish), which will be a place where trends of this sector in the Americas in general and our country in particular are analyzed. This event will be a platform to spread ideas on El Salvador's backing of SED's, in which the results of the development strategy and roadmap of the sector for business services at a distance will be discussed.

The British manufacturer of sports medicine products Smith & Nephew has started operating a new shared services center in Coyol de Alajuela.

From the shared services center, the areas of human resources, regulatory compliance, payroll, financial and technological services will be attended to, serving the United States and Latin America.

The company Equifax has announced the opening of a new shared services center to serve its operations in Latin America, Europe and North America.

The new 4,400 square meter building is located in the Metro free zone, in Barreal de Heredia where Equifax has been established since 1995. 

Costa Rica Still Attracting Service Centers

There has been an increase and there are now 122 international companies which have invested in the operation of 140 shared services in different categories.

Currently the export of computer services, management and other business functions make up 5.8% of Costa Rica's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Citi Financial Group is expanding operations at its shared service center in the country, where it caters for operations of the corporation at a global level.
