Awards: Support for Canal Bridge

TY Lin International Panama won the contract to provide technical assistance to the project management of the fourth bridge over the Panama Canal, in the amount of $17.8 million.

The Ministry of Public Works in Panama awarded the contract to $17,797,040 for the procurement of consulting services for strategic planning to provide technical assistance to the project management of the fourth bridge over the Panama Canal .

A statement issued by the Ministry of Public Works says that "... The company TY LIN International will be responsible for performing the services of skilled and specialized technical assistance, to ensure proper implementation of the objectives of this work; in terms of design, construction and commissioning of the new infrastructure in harmony and optimal function together with the rest of Panama's public transport system, particularly with the future Metro Line 3 of Panama. "

With a deadline of 1,825 calendar days, the work will be carried out by TY Lin International Panama, winner of the public tender, in which the company Ingeniería y Economía del Transporte S.A. also participated with a bid of $17.798.541.72. For this project, the MOP had set a reference rate of $22,245,396.47.

Award of Contract to Build Bridge Over Canal Ratified

July 2018

After several appeals were filed in the tender to build a fourth bridge over the Panama Canal, confirmation has been given to the award of the contract to the Panama Cuarto Puente consortium, made up of Chinese companies.

The General Directorate of Public Procurement confirmed that the performance of the Ministry of Public Works during the adjudication process was correct, and ratified the decisions taken in the process of awarding the work. 

Funding for the Fourth Bridge over the Canal

The $500 million that Empresa Nacional de Autopistas (ENA) plans to issue under the framework of the recently approved law reform, will be repaid with revenue generated through a toll charged for crossing the bridge.

The companies TY-Lin International and Ineco-Egis-Ginprosa have submitted technical and financial proposals to provide technical assistance to the project management of the fourth bridge over the canal.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Public Works:

Two companies participated on Monday, December 7, in the best value tender for Technical Assistance to the Management of the fourth bridge over the Panama Canal, whose reference amount set by the Ministry of Public Works Project was B / 22,245,396.47 .
