Variation in Imports
According to CentralAmericaData estimates, between January and September 2018 and the same period in 2019 the value of imported vehicle parts and replacements in El Salvador registered a 9% increase, rising from $119 million to $130 million.

For the months in question over the last seven years, the country has reported a sustained rise in imports, recording an average annual growth rate of 9%.

Origin of Imports
From January to September 2019, 31% of the value imported into El Salvador came from China, 16% from Japan, 15% from the United States, 11% from Taiwan and 7% from South Korea.

China is the country of origin of Salvadoran imports that has grown the most for the months in question over the last seven years, since in 2012 it represented 13% of the total value purchased, and in 2019 it rose to 31%.

Costa Rica Imports More Auto Parts from Japan

In the first quarter of the year the country reported nearly $50 million in purchases of vehicle parts, and imports from Japan grew by 3% compared to the same period in 2017.
