Auto Brands in Central America: Figures in 2018

At the end of last year, 38% of the car-type units circulating in the region represented the brands Nissan, Honda, Chevrolet, Ford, Suzuki, Volkswagen and KIA.

An analysis of CentralAmericaData's Trade Intelligence Unit provides details on the characteristics of the different vehicles passing through the streets of Central American countries.

By brand at regional level
According to Central American vehicle fleet data, of the total number of motor vehicles circulating in the countries of the region, about 40% are Toyota, Hyundai and Mazda brands.

By brand and country
Of the total number of cars circulating in Costa Rica in the last quarter of the year, 65% corresponded to the brands Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, Suzuki and Honda.

In the case of Guatemala, the predominant brands are Toyota, Mazda, Honda, Mitsubishi and Nissan, representing about 61% of the total units currently circulating.

In El Salvador, Hyundai, Kía, Honda, Ford, Nissan and Mazda brands are reported to represent the most part of the fleet, representing 51% of the total number of car-type vehicles.

Panama's vehicle fleet specifies that the four brands leading the market are Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai and Kia, concentrating about 66% of the cars circulating in the country.
