Monday, November 25, 2013

Alfredo Skinner-Klee, an expert in arbitration from the company Arenales & Skinner Klee said in an interview with conducted by Lorena Alvarez: that "Arbitration has become a major institution in the trade, in international transactions and in the last 20 years resolution mechanisms via arbitration investment disputes have been enabled."

The lawyer explained that arbitrations are much quicker than filing a lawsuit in court, in addition, there is more privacy to the dispute. "Guatemala is learning and needs to make a bigger effort, because as long as more international trade agreements with arbitration clauses are being signed, it must be prepared to defend them. "

It "should make an effort to develop the mechanism for use by the Chamber of Commerce, which has a presence across the country, and can help traders to turn to these settlement mechanisms which are faster, easier and more private when going through the Center for Arbitration and Conciliation (Cenac) ".
