Palmerola Airport Tender Announced

The Spanish consultancy company ALG is advising the Government of Honduras on the economic model and the contest rules for awarding Palmerola to a private operator.

Monday, February 4, 2013 reports that failure to reach an agreement with InterAirports has meant the resumption of the process "to define the economic model, how the bidding will be conducted and the nature of the contract between the state and the company that will finally take over the project. "

Jose Antonio Pineda, general secretary of Commission for the Promotion of Public Private Partnerships (COALIANZA), referred to the process that is currently under this initiative: "The Spanish company Advanced Logistics Group (ALG) is a consultancy advising us in the bidding process for Palmerola. In late January we received from ALG a study on the economic model that might work for the airport at Palmerola and right now the same company is preparing the bidding model for us and the model contract and contacting some international airport operators that may be interested in participating in the tender. "According to Pineda there are already some companies interested in developing this project. "I have heard that there are already three international organizations interested in participating in the tender and we are waiting for them to give us the process for the bidding and thecontract, in order to start the tender process."
