Another Tax Amnesty in Honduras

A law decree under discussion in Congress seeks to grant a tax amnesty on penalties and interest to taxpayers with outstanding accounts with the State.

The draft submitted by the secretary of the CN, Rigoberto Chang Castillo, would grant amnesty to tax charges such as taxes and contributions for improvements, fees, surcharges, fines and surcharges, which must be paid no later than July 31 of the current year .

According to Chang, the amnesty includes income tax and property tax that are paid in all municipalities of Honduras.

Elheraldo.hn reports that "the decree empowers the Attorney General's Office (PGR by its initials in Spanish) to arrange collection, sign agreements for payments and make waivers for the case."

Tax Amnesty Proposed in Panama

A bill intends to give taxpayers the opportunity to get in order tax payments owed due to errors or inaccuracies up to the fiscal year 2011.

A press release from the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Panama reads:

The Government will provide an opportunity for taxpayers to manage their tax obligations with the National Revenue Authority (ANIP), which occurred due to inaccuracies or errors, exempting them from liability for such acts up to the fiscal year 2011, presented the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Frank De Lima, by a bill before the full National Assembly.

The amnesty includes those who owe taxes for tax periods prior to 1 January 2012.

S21.com.gt reports that "this measure is complementary to the cancellation of 10% in tax payments and 50% reduction in the circulation tax".

New Tax Amnesty in Honduras

August 2012

Given the low tax collection, the plenary of the legislature has approved an extension, until December 31, 2012, for the Tax Amnesty Act.

The new amnesty favors those taxpayers who, for financial reasons, had failed to meet their tax obligations and make tax payments for tax year 2011.
