Honduras, Main Buyer
During 2018, the largest importer of animal feed preparations in Central America was Honduras with $117 million, followed by Costa Rica with $104 million, Panama with $97 million, Guatemala with $83 million, El Salvador with $51 million and Nicaragua with $42 million.

Central American Business Upwards
Between 2017 and 2018, the volume imported of animal feed preparations registered a 7% increase, rising from 386 thousand tons to 414 thousand tons. The imported value also grew considerably, from $458 million to $505 million.

For the periods concerned, the value imported from Mexico increased 20%, growing from $76 million to $92 million.

Origin of Imports
Last year, 24% of the value imported from Central America was from the U.S., 18% from Mexico, 4% from Peru, 2% from France and 2% from Ecuador.
