Costa Rica, Main Buyer
From January to March 2019 the largest importer of animal feed preparations in Central America was Costa Rica with $25 million, followed by Panama with $22 million, Honduras with $21 million, Guatemala with $18 million, El Salvador with $12 million and Nicaragua with $8 million.

Central American Business Falls
Between the first quarter of 2018 and the same period of 2019 the volume imported of preparations for animal feed registered a 3% decrease, falling from 93 thousand tons to 90 thousand tons. The imported value also decreased considerably, from $117 million to $108 million.

In contrast to the general behavior, for the periods in question the value imported from Mexico increased 9%, growing from $19 million to $20.7 million.

Origin of Imports
In the first three months, 21% of the value imported from Central America came from the U.S., 19% from Mexico, 4% from Peru, 3% from France and 2% from Brazil.
