A government proposal seeks to generate in 5 years $13,000 billion worth of investment in tourism, textiles, intermediate manufacturing and business support services.

Tegucigalpa, February 29. President Juan Orlando Hernández presented the National Economic Development Program 20/20 Honduras, the largest platform for growth promoted in the country's history, focusing on tourism, textiles, intermediate manufacturing and business support services, which will generate 600,000 jobs in five years, among other objectives.
This program, developed by the government of President Hernandez with private enterprise and the international consulting firm McKinsey, will allow for investments of more than $13,000 million. Moreover, in a subsequent phases, sectors such as agribusiness and housing will be included in this plan, which has been approved by the Council of Ministers.
The plan proposed by the Morales administration to increase the country's competitiveness focuses on the development of forestry, agriculture, textiles, clothing and footwear, metalworking, light manufacturing, tourism and construction, among other things.
Authorities at the National Program for Competitiveness -Pronacom- presented guidelines for the National Competitiveness Policy 2018-2032. This set of strategies, which aims to establish guidelines on competitiveness at the national and regional level for the next 15 years, was developed jointly by the productive sector, public sector, academia and civil society.
The Honduran government has announced that the footwear and clothing company plans to set up a plant to manufacture its products in the north of the country.

Tegucigalpa, 24 August.The facilities that Honduras offers for investment are attracting internationally recognized brands, such as the case of the sportswear manufacturing company Nike, which in the coming days will set up a plant in the country which will generate about 25 thousand jobs.
The country will promote foreign investment in these sectors, especially in areas with less development further away from the Greater Metropolitan Area.
The Costa Rican Coalition for Development Initiatives (Cinde) will focus on promoting investment in these sectors, diversifying its strategy of attracting investment and giving greater emphasis to the development of areas further away from the capital, where there is a stronger link with the productive sectors and agribusiness.
