Market figures for aluminium and products made of aluminium in Central America compiled by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData.com, show that in 2015 the countries in the Central American region as a whole imported 153,000 tons of aluminum and articles thereof, equivalent to $646 million.

Costa Rica, the largest importer in the region in 2015, bought 35 thousand tons from abroad, with a total value of $166 million. Guatemala, meanwhile, imported 34 thousand tons, at a value of $147 million.

As for exports, the leading seller of aluminum and articles thereof was Costa Rica, which exported 55 thousand tons, at a value of $73 million, followed by El Salvador, which in 2015 sold a total of 18,000 tons at a value of $65 million.
