Almost $1 Billion in New Office Construction

In the first nine months of 2018, 107 environmental impact studies were presented in the countries of the region for the construction of public and private office buildings.

The interactive platform "Construction in Central America", compiled by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, includes an up to date list of public and private construction projects for which environmental impact studies (EIA) were submitted to the respective institutions of each country.

Costa Rica is the country with the largest investment, with nearly $504 million in projects dedicated to the construction of office buildings or multipurpose buildings that include areas for corporate use, corresponding to 41 environmental impact studies submitted between January and September 2018.

In El Salvador, 9 EIAs were presented, which together total about $279 million investment. The construction of a 24-floor office tower that will be in the country's metropolitan area is noteworthy.

In Guatemala, 23 studies were presented for the construction of office buildings, which together about $133 million total investment. In the case of Honduras, four projects were reported with a $29 million total investment.

In Panama, 28 studies were processed to construct buildings whose total or partial use will be used for offices, and together the projects represent a $27 million investment. In the case of Nicaragua, two office complexes were reported, and the total investment is $11 million.
