Alcoholic Beverages: Beer Supply Increases

In Costa Rica, the Treintaycinco company reported that, on December 10th, a new beer Lager began to be sold in the local market.

The company, which has been participating in the Costa Rican market for artisanal beers for five years, announced that it plans to compete in the local market for premium beers.

On the matter, Jose Acosta, manager of Sales and International Expansion, said to Crhoy.com that "... The production range we have allows us to enter this sector. We have seen the positive reception our products have, in our incursion exporting to highly competitive markets."

The article adds that "... The national company, already sent a beer container to Russia and another to China, as part of its internationalization process, in which it has received support from the Foreign Trade Promoter (Procomer). It also sells its products in Guatemala and Panama. Currently they have 13 types of permanent artisanal beer and another number that varies and rotates according to the season."

Regarding beer imports in the region, reports from CentralAmericaData detail that in the first six months of 2018 the largest beer importer in Central America remained Guatemala, with $31 million, followed by Honduras with $22 million, Panama with $16 million, El Salvador with $7 million, Costa Rica with $6 million and Nicaragua with $2 million.

"The company [Florida Ice & Farm] entered China by signing an alliance with brewer Tsingtao and also with distribution company Powsun, one of the top dealers of that brand in the Asian country", reported Nacion.com.

Imperial aims to slake premium thirsts in Guatemala

Guatemalan brewer Cervecería Centro Americana has begun to import and distribute Costa Rica's leading beer, Imperial.

Imperial will be marketed in Costa Rica as a premium, imported brand.
