Alba Petroleos Plant Starts Operations in Acajutla

The plant, capable of storing 350,000 barrels of fuel, will be inaugurated on May 19.

The plant built with an investment of $115 million, is owned by Alba Petroleum, a company formed by Salvadoran municipalities and the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA.

Luz Estrella Rodríguez, vice president of Petroleos Alba told the media that within ten days the company will begin marketing liquefied gas, and making its debut in the Salvadoran market.

Asked about the prices in liquefied gas market, company officials spoke of "fair prices."

Supply Plant to Begin Operations in April

The fuel storage facility of Acajutla, El Salvador, will begin operations in April.

Spokesmen for Alba Petróleos de El Salvador, said that completion of the works is scheduled for February, and will last until March. The construction of the pipeline for ship loading and unloading is still pending.

The finalization of surface works will mean the Acajutla fuel storage depot will be operational at the beginning of 2011.

The construction of the fuel storage plant, located in the city of Acajutla, will be completed by July of 2010.

The company Monelca, S.A. de CV., which is responsible for the construction of the Alba Petróleos plant in El Salvador, said that it will have a storage capacity of 350,000 barrels of fuel: diesel and gasoline (regular, super, and aviation fuel) as well as about 5,000 barrels of liquefied petrol gas.
