Air Transport Sector Meets in El Salvador

From 23rd to 25th of February representatives from airlines, airports and the tourism industry will be reviewing air services in the region.

More than 400 aviation professionals, representatives from 70 airlines, 25 authorities for tourism and airports will meet from 23rd to 25th February in El Salvador in the seventh edition of Routes Americas, an event aimed at developing new routes and expanding connectivity .

From a press release by the Ministry of Tourism of El Salvador:

From 23rd to 25th of February El Salvador will bring together more than 400 aviation professionals, about 70 airlines, 25 tourism authorities and 100 airports in the seventh annual Routes Americas 2014, the most important industry event aimed at developing new routes and improving connectivity.

Routes Americas is the most important annual event gathering together those responsible for making decisions on air services in the region of the Americas. As with every edition of Routes, it pursues goals that are highly beneficial and important for the host country.

More Flights between San Salvador and Los Angeles

January 2020

As of February 3rd, Avianca will begin operating a new frequency between the capital of El Salvador and the U.S. city.

The new frequency will leave El Salvador at 6:55 p.m. and arrive in Los Angeles at 10:35 p.m. The flight from the U.S. city will leave at 00:30 hours and will arrive in the Central American country at 7:19 hours.

New Flights San Salvador - San José

The Salvadoran airline Veca has announced that as of February 25th it will begin operating three flights per week between San Salvador and Juan Santamaria Airport in San Jose.

From a statement issued by Vuelos Económicos Centroamericanos:

VECA Airlines with the aim of integrating Central America and expanding opportunities for everyone to fly, will be starting operations, from February 25, between the cities of San Salvador and San José, Costa Rica; the direct flights will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Guatemalan Airline Starts Operations in El Salvador

February 2014

The low-cost airline Transportes Aereos Guatemaltecos plans to offer a daily flight from Ilopango airport in Guatemala City.

The airline Transportes Aéreos Guatemaltecos will start operations on March 20, offering a daily flight from Ilopango airport east of San Salvador, to La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala. The flight between the two cities will take approximately 30 minutes.

Salvadoran Airline Hires New Staff

September 2013

The airline VECA has began a recruitment process and expects to perform its maiden flight next February.

We have been watching this recruitment drive with interest "because there are technical personnel we have to certify pilots, those responsible for instruction, flight attendants, maintenance staff, management, and quality staff," said Roger Menendez, executive director of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) .
