Reportur.co publications state that Air Europa plans to operate flights between Madrid and San José from April 2020 onwards.

On the other hand, Miguel Ángel Uriondo, Communications Director of Globalia, the group to which Air Europa belongs, told Nacion.com that in relation to the information that has been published, he explained that for the moment they will not make "... comments, it will happen until later."

The article adds that "... The information circulating indicates that Air Europa would be opening the flight between Spain and Costa Rica. With this would enter to compete with Iberia, which performs a direct daily service on the same route. Civil Aviation considered that if all the requirements are presented it is possible that this permit is valid for April next year."
