Imports by country 
In the first three months of 2018, the main buyer in Central America was Guatemala with $41 million, followed by Costa Rica with $34 million, Honduras with $20 million, Panama with $19 million, Nicaragua with $17 million and El Salvador with $14 million. 

Origin of Central American imports
During the first quarter of 2018, 17% of the value imported from Central America came from China, 15% from the US, 9% from Mexico, 7% from Colombia and 3% from Germany.

China is the market origin of imports that has grown the most in the first quarter of recent years, since in 2012 it represented 12% of total purchases, and in 2018 this figure reached 17%.  

Variation of regional imports 
Between the first quarter of 2017 and the same period of this year, the import value registered an increase of 6%, rising from $138 million to $146 million.
