Imports by country
In the first six months of 2018, the main buyer in Central America was Guatemala with $86 million, followed by Costa Rica with $74 million, Nicaragua with $50 million, Honduras with $49 million, Panama with $47 million and El Salvador with $37 million.

Origin of Central American imports
During the first half of 2018, 17% of the value imported from Central America was from China, 15% from the U.S., 9% from Mexico, 8% from Colombia and 3% from India.

China is the origin market of imports that has grown the most in the first half of recent years, since in 2012 represented 11% of total purchases, and in 2018 reached 17%.

Variation in regional imports
Between the first half of 2017 and the same period this year, the value imported increased 2%, increasing from $337 million to $343 million.

Agrochemicals: Regional Imports Up 6%

August 2018

From January to March of this year, countries in the region imported $146 million worth of insecticides, herbicides and fungicides, 6% more than in the same period in 2017.

Agrochemicals in Central America: Purchases Up 3%

May 2018

In 2017, the total import value of insecticides, herbicides and fungicides in Central American countries totaled $689 million, registering a 3% increase with respect to 2016.
