Medical Tourism is gaining ground in our country, an area in which officials from the Ministry of Tourism and the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation are seeking to position El Salvador as a sustainable and competitive destination.

This year more hospitals have shown their interest in improving the quality of services provided, which shows that the outlook for the development of medical tourism in the country is expanding, opening up possibilities of entering new markets, creating potential partnerships with medical systems in North American countries, mainly, and a gaining a higher level of trust among the uninsured population seeking affordable options, but without sacrificing the safety aspect.

Recently the hospital Our Lady of Peace of San Miguel, received International Certification by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASFI), the largest U.S. accrediting organization in the world, whose quality program has to date been adopted by more than 2,000 institutions.
