Advances in Highly Anticipated Road Project

The Ministry of Public Works in Costa Rica has given its approval to the designs for two overpasses on the Florencio del Castillo highway, one in Taras and another in La Lima, in Cartago.

The Ministry of Public Works reported that " ...The project not only includes these overpasses in the points indicated, but an integral intervention of the highway between these two locations, with important improvements related to the road surface and construction of facilities such as accesses and exits to the marginal routes, turns, as well as sidewalks, bays for buses and even bicycle lanes in different points."

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Public Works:

June 20, 2018 The overpasses, with six lanes of traffic on an overpass in Taras and another one with movements towards the center of Cartago and towards el Guarco, at the crossing at La Lima, make up substantially the proposals to resolve the problem of bottlenecks that currently occur at these two important crosses in this province.
 
The project not only includes the overpasses in the points indicated, but an integral intervention of the highway that is between these two locations, with important improvements related to the road surface and construction of facilities such as accesses and exits to the marginal routes, turns, as well as sidewalks, bays for buses and even bicycle lanes at different points.

April 2018

The Ministry of Public Works plans to approve in May designs for overpasses to be built on the Florencio del Castillo highway, which connects San José with Cartago.

In a statement sent by the Ministry of Public Works, it was explained that the overpasses will be built at the intersections of Taras and La Lima, both in Cartago. 

El Salvador: Highway Expansion Planned

August 2017

A tender is being launched for a feasibility study to expand a 22-kilometer section of the El Litoral highway between the Zacatecoluca and Tecoluca municipalities to four lanes.

The Ministry of Public Works plans to extend the stretch from Zacatecoluca, La Paz, to San Marcos Lempa, San Vicente, to two lanes in each direction.
