$8 million investment in logistics sector

The Peruvian group Ransa built in the municipality of Amatitlán, Guatemala, a logistics center dedicated to the distribution of perishable products.

Company representatives detailed that the new industrial complex, which is located at kilometer 29.5 of the road to the Pacific, has a frozen and refrigerated area of 1,500 m2, which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

Sergio Torrico, Ransa's vice president for Central America, explained to Prensalibre.com that "... US$8 millions have been invested because we consider Guatemala to be a country for logistical growth. The project began in February of this year and was completed within six months."

Torrico added that "... The distribution center of 7,500 m2 is intended for supermarkets, mass consumption and retail, which are the points of development, but also other sectors as Ransa is a signature that operates in seven countries of the continent."

The new distribution center joins Villa Nueva, Quetzaltenango and Teculután, which together will have about 40,000 m2.

El Salvador: New Refrigerated Distribution Center

The Ransa company with an investment of $3 million, has opened its first refrigerated distribution center.

After six years of operation in the country, the company has ventured into the area of refrigerated logistics, said Emilio Fantozzi, general manager of Ransa.

"This new logistics management will allow the company to enter a high demand market and address the existing logistics services for perishable foods.

Grupo Galores will erect, close to Tocumen Airport, its first Refrigeration Logistical Center.

It will benefit the commercialization of perishable products, and will start operations midway 2010.

Máximo Gallardo, president of Apex, Panama's Exporters Association, stated that "...this center will benefit both exports and imports of products such as chicken meat, beef, seafood, vegetables and flowers, among others".
