$70 Million for Seven Holiday Inns in Central America

Intercontinental Hotels Group and the Agrisal Group will invest $70 million in the construction of seven hotels over five years.

The project anticipates the opening of seven Holiday Inn hotels, beginning with one in Escazú, Costa Rica. The others will be built in Antigua (Guatemala), Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula (Honduras); Managua (Nicaragua), and San Salvador (El Salvador).

Araceli Guede writes for Hosteltur: "This expansion project starts with the building of a new hotel in Escazú in Costa Rica. Escazú is, according to the Tourist Promotion Agency of Central America (CATA), one of the most exclusive areas of San José."

Two New Holiday Inns in Central America Announced

The hotel chain InterContinental Hotels Group announced the signing of two contracts for Holiday Inn Express hotels in Managua and Tegucigalpa respectively.

In total the two properties represent an increase of 220 rooms for the Holiday Inn brand family in Latin America and the Caribbean, where there are currently 18 Holiday Inn Express hotels and 24 Holiday Inn hotels.

The real estate firm Kirebe is to build a Wyndham Garden Hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The new hotel will be located in Escazú, on land adjacent to Play and EPA, and will open its doors in August, according to the plans of the property firm Kirebe, which has previously specialized in residential condominiums.

IHG Opens Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Panama

The IHG hotel chain has signed a franchise to open a 198 room hotel in July 2012.

The hotel will be operated by Latin American Hospitality Management Inc., the hospitality division of the Salvadoran group Agrisal, who have signed a long-term strategic agreement with IHG to expand in the region.
