$5 Million for ProCredit Honduras

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and Banco ProCredit Honduras have signed an agreement to open a credit line to finance micro-companies and SMEs.

With the $5 million credit line ProCredit seeks to strengthen its portfolio of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Honduras.

The general manager of the bank's Honduras division, Esther Gravenkötter, signed the loan agreement with CABEI executive vice-president, Alejandro Rodríguez Zamora. She told Terra.com that ProCredit supports small and medium sized companies whose goals are sustainability, financial growth, employment generation and a significant contribution to economic development.

The BCIE has granted a credit line to Cathay Bank to support MSME’s, as well as international trade and housing in Costa Rica.

A press release by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) reads:

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) has granted a loan to Banco Cathay allowing it to expand its global credit line to $10.5 million in order to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as well as international trade and housing Costa Rica.

Guatemalan Bantrab Acquires Credit Line for $27 million

The Banco de los Trabajadores (Workers Bank) has signed for a credit line worth $27.5 million with the Central American Economic Integration Bank

The funds will be earmarked for financing small and medium enterprises and housing loans.

The loan was signed by Ronald Garcia, general director of Grupo Financiero Bantrab, and Florentino Fernandez, country manager of BCIE.

$7 Million for Costa Rican SMEs

CABEI and the country's largest finance company, Desyfin, have signed an agreement that will make $7 million available to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) loan is part of the 'banca de segundo piso' ("second tier banking") program through which CABEI seeks to give SMEs better access to credit, according to Leticia Vindas writing for the El Financiero web portal.

$3.5 Million for Guatemalan SMEs

Through a loan with BCIE, "Génesis Empresarial" foundation will expand its credit lines.

The foundation will use these resources in giving loans to SMEs and communal rural banks.

Édgar Ballsels, director of the Central American Economic Integration Bank (BCIE), told newspaper Prensa Libre that the entity "has decided to extend credit lines for small and medium enterprises...".
