The Costa Rican Social Security Institution awarded Estructuras S.A. the design, construction and equipment of the operating rooms, delivery room and intensive care unit at Hospital México.
Fernando Llorca Castro, executive president of the CCSS, explained to Nacion.com that "... 'the new building responds to the need to have a surgical block in accordance with current regulations and will serve to guarantee the performance of surgical interventions, according to the quality standards for each specialty'."
In relation to the award process, Jorge Granados, from the Infrastructure and Technologies Department, said that "...'The work was awarded to Estructuras S.A. after a detailed analysis of the legal, administrative, financial, technical and price reasonability aspects'."
Due to the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, the income of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund was reduced, which puts at risk the financing of 120 infrastructure projects that together total an investment of approximately $1.521 billion.
Prior to the pandemic, Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social (CCSS) plans were to tender and execute over the years 2021-2030, more than a hundred infrastructure projects.
The Costa Rican Social Security Fund has received five offers for the design, construction and equipment of the Víctor Sanabria Hospital, which will be located in Puntarenas.
Representatives from the CCSS reported that the companies that pre-qualified and presented their offers were Constructora Gonzalo Delgado, Consorcio San José-BTD, Van der laat and Jiménez-Ingelectra, Estructuras-Edificar and Edica.
The Costa Rican Social Security department will be receiving bids in January for the construction of a hospital emergency room in Perez Zeledon.
Next year the Costa Rican Social Security Department (CCSS by its initials in Spanish) will invest $14 million in a new emergency and tomography room at the Fernando Escalante Pradilla Hospital.
