$459 million Hospital Complex Announced

The Social Insurance Department in Guatemala is preparing a tender for the construction of the project "Health City", which includes the construction of four hospitals on 116 thousand square meters and which is valued at $459 million.

Monday, March 9, 2015

It is expected that in May the bidding process will start so that construction can start no later than October. This project involves the design and construction of four hospitals: pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology; medical, surgical and one for oncology and transplants. It is anticipated that construction will take about 3 years.

Elperiodico.com.gt reports that "... In addition to the four hospitals, there will also be outpatient services, a pharmacy, radiotherapy, morgue, blood bank, over 2000 parking spaces, family inn, kitchen, helipad and administrative area for archiving, storage, maintenance, laundry, changing rooms and a chapel. The limitation of physical spaces in hospitals requires the construction of this hospital complex. The pediatric hospital and the kidney transplant hospital will be pioneers in the country. "
