$4,030 per Hundredweight Paid for Nicaraguan coffee

A sample of the grain from a farm in Jinotega obtained the highest price in the Coffee Cup of Excellence auction in Nicaragua.

Elnuevodiario.com.ni reports that "...This gourmet coffee is of the malacaturra variety and is being produced in the estate El Esfuerzo in Jinotega, owned by Ignacio Estrada Burgos. The same farm managed to place another lot of the same quality and category at a price of US $3,790 per hundredweight, a bid made from the wallet of Wataru for Shrub Coffee."

The coffee lot that won third place also comes from Jinotega, from a farm called Las Delicias, owned by Eleane Mierisch & Gioconda Padilla Mierisch. For this lot the company Taf Coffee paid $1,640 per quintal.

"... At a price of $1,500 per quintal, the coffee Presedencial was also sold, an H-1 variety, with a score of 90.50, produced by Gonzalo Castillo Moreno, in the property Las Promesas de San Blas de Dipilto. Time's Club, Inc. and Mayurama Coffee Co. Ltd. shared out two lots of the grain. It is the first time that a hybrid has been placed among the best coffees in the competition for the Cup, as well as in the international auction."

A sample of the grain from a farm in the municipality of Acatenango obtained the highest price in the online auction known as the Coffee Excellence Cup in Guatemala.

Angel-in-us Coffee and Maruyama Coffee Co. yesterday bought the two lots of high-quality Pacamara coffee produced in the municipality of Acatenango by the El Paraxaj estate.  In the Excellence Cup online auction, the highest price was $58 per pound and the second highest was quoted at $53.41.  

$2,120 Per cwt Paid for Nicaraguan Coffee

A gourmet coffee from a farm in the town of Dilpito and local contest winner received the highest price in the online international auction.

The 25 lots of coffee in the auction had an averaged selling price of $933 per cwt (hundredweight), the highest price recorded in the 11 editions of the event based in Nicaragua.

Guatemala: $2,000 per Quintal of Coffee in Electronic Auction

Although low, the final price paid exceeded the specialty coffee auctions in Costa Rica, El Salvador and Nicaragua.

The Cup of Excellence auction, hosted by Coffee Bean International for Target in the United States, ended with the sale of coffee from the “El Socorro” farm, which sold a lot of 26 quintals at $2012 each.
