$39 Million for Agricultural Market Construction

In Costa Rica the company Volio and Trejos will be in charge of the construction and equipment of the Regional Wholesale Market in Chorotega, Guanacaste.

Works will start in September this year, and should be completed 13 months later. The project consists of building and equipping a regional food distribution center. 

Project Description
Integral proposal adjusted to the needs of the agri-food system of the Chorotega Region: Infrastructure and equipment, management of local supply and purchase. Objective. To have in the Chorotega Region and area of influence of the project an efficient and modern system of supply, distribution and commercialization of agri- food products.

36 premises to sell fruits and vegetables.
16 for meats, basic grains and polyvalence. 
7 bi temperate cabinets
2 freezer tunnels.
Bank office, auditorium for training, restaurants, marketing services. 

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture:

Monday 14 August 2017. On Monday the companies in charge of the inspection of the works were announced, Acciona Ingeniería-El Salvador; as well as those supplying construction and equipment, Constructora Volio and Trejos Asociados, whose representatives signed the respective contract in the International Public Tender 2016LP-00001-000160005, in which 16 other companies took part.

New Modules for Vegetable Production

An agricultural production complex was inaugurated in Costa Rica, which has six modules for protected environments and will be used to validate vegetable crop production techniques.

Coffee: Less Supply, Better Prices

Because of the low grain prices reported in 2018, it is estimated that there could be a reduction in supply, which would lead to a rebound in prices this year.

On average, the pound price of grain was close to $1.15 during 2018, however, global businessmen forecast that for this year the price could rise to $1.24 per pound.
