36% of gas stations in San Pedro Sula without fuel

Nationwide, at least 36 percent of gasoline stations are out of fuel, according to Gerardo Meraz, the representative of American Petroleum. He added that this is starting to affect the productive sector.

Thursday, June 19, 2008

Meraz said fuel from Petrocaribe has not been distributed to 84 gas stations that are not connected to international companies affiliated with the Honduras Association of Distributors of Petroleum Products.
He said the problem is severe in San Pedro Sula but has also spread to El Paraíso, Olancho, El Porvenir and part of Colón.
Petrocaribe was set up by the government of Venezuela. It distributes petroleum under favorable payment terms to some Central American and Caribbean countries.
