$28 Million in New Commercial Investments

In the coming months, a new 12,000-square-meter shopping center will be built in Cobán, Guatemala, and an existing one, Plaza Magdalena, will be expanded.

Executives of the developer Courban informed that in a few weeks they will begin the construction of a new shopping center called "Plaza del Parque", which will have 48 stores, restaurant area, spaces for banks and will also house a supermarket.

The commercial complex, for which close to $8 million will be invested, will have a parking lot with capacity for 100 vehicles and is expected to be completed in May 2020.

Prensalibre.com reports that "... Plaza Magdalena is the second investment project, with US$20 million, which consists of expansion to become the Magdalena District, which will include a hypermarket, more restaurants, new movie theaters, fitness center, sports fields, department stores, as well as a hospital. The project also includes a hotel and convention center."

The article adds that "... The expansion for the Magdalena District will cover about 10.8 blocks, also among the amenities will be implemented services for the Paseo Cahabón, which will consist of a pedestrian route to enjoy from that space the river of the same name. This project is expected to open in December 2019 Dollar City store and will continue with gradual openings to complete them in 2021.

Expansion of Shopping Center in El Salvador

Grupo Agrisal announced that in order to expand the Plaza Mundo shopping center it will invest $7 million in the construction of new infrastructure and remodeling works.

Representatives from Grupo Multicentro announced that in two weeks they will start construction of the shopping center called "Centro Mall", which will be located in front of the El Periodista roundabout and will offer 100 stores, restaurants, cinemas and a hotel.

Guatemala: $13 million Invested in Shopping Center

The shopping complex to be built south of the capital on an 8 hectares area will be ready in late October 2014.

The project, by the company EU Desarrollos, will have "... 28 shops, plus eight large companies which will be installed in the site .... and a daily influx of 32,000 vehicles is expected."

Among the projects for this year include the extension of Avenida Escazú, the opening of Mango Plaza Mall in Alajuela and the inauguration of the fourth office tower El Cedral in Escazú, all scheduled for May.
