An additional loan of $8 million has been granted by the National Economic Council (CENA) to the Civil Aviation Authority for starting the construction of the new headquarters for the Center for Air Traffic Control and Radar Approach Area, which is currently located where the Ciudad Gubernamental (Government City) will be built, said the Minister of Economy and Finance, Alberto Vallarino.

Vallarino said that in order to achieve this goal, the Civil Aviation Authority needs to incorporate resources for 40% of the estimated $20 million investment budget this year, and the balance (60%) in 2012, equivalent to $12 million.

The new infrastructure will also house the administrative offices for the management of air navigation and communication, and surveillance. In its entirety, the complex will become the center that governs airworthiness throughout the country, managing air traffic services, telecommunications, aviation meteorology and information. The building will cost $7 million and the equipment the sum of $12 million, Vallarino said.
