$200 million Announced for Honduras - Nicaragua Highway

The Honduran government has reported that once the road study has concluded, the stretch of road that connects Tegucigalpa with the border department of El Paraíso will be renovated.

The Honduran Presidency reported that " ...The Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services (Insep) will invest some 200 million dollars (4,760 million lempiras) in the reconstruction of the Oriente highway linking Tegucigalpa with El Paraíso. " 

Regarding the status of the project, Roberto Pineda, Minister of Infrastructure and Public Services, explained that " ... for a year and a half work has been done on the study of the road, financed by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) and it was concluded last September. " 

The statement adds that " ...The design is already completed, two options were made: with hydraulic concrete and another with asphalt, but instructions are that it be made with hydraulic concrete ... ".

$18 Million Road Works

In Panama, the design and construction of 8 kilometers of roads, of the sections Chiriquí Grande-Quebrada El Bajo and Chiriquí Grande-Ballena, in the province of Bocas del Toro are being tendered.

"The project has a 7.75 kilometer length; however, the Tendering Entity may determine works that, within the execution of the work in the field, are detected as required, that have not been defined in the terms of reference and the plans, to ensure the connectivity and integrity of the road networks and/or for the accessibility to basic services.

$950 Million Announced for Road Works

November 2018

Over the next three years, the Honduran government plans to carry out road conservation work on the country's road network, including the enhancement of roads in 148 municipalities nationwide.

The Hernandez administration expects to develop in the next three years the Road Infrastructure Program 2018-2022 "Abriendo Caminos al Desarrollo", for the improvement of secondary roads in more than 148 productive and tourist municipalities in Honduras.

Nicaragua Tenders Road Maintenance Works

December 2011

The Road Maintenance Fund will invest $37.3 million to attend to 3350 km of roads and highways nationwide during 2012.

A press release by the Road Maintenance Fund (FOMAV) reads:

With the aim of stating work in January next year, the institution is currently developing the first National Public Tender Process, consisting of 940 km of roads and highways with an investment of 307 million cordobas ($13,4 millon) to be used on construction works and supervision services.

Guatemala Awards Construction Works for $ 26 Million

March 2011

The five projects awarded are for road reconstruction in the Atlantic coastline area.

The reconstruction of segments Sanarate-Agua Caliente, San Antonio Paz-El Progreso, was awarded to Overseas Engineering and Construction Co. Ltda., SA.

The reconstruction of the access driveway to Morales, Izabal was awarded to William Estuardo Radford Hernández.
