$1.7 Billion Investments in Residential Construction

In 2020, 172 environmental impact studies were submitted to develop condominiums, apartment buildings and other housing projects in Central American countries.

The interactive platform "Construction in Central America", by CentralAmericaData's Business Intelligence Area, provides an updated list of public and private construction projects that have submitted environmental impact studies (EIA) to the respective institutions in each country.

Costa Rica is the country in the region with the highest investment from January to December last year, with approximately $1,043 million in apartment building and horizontal residential projects, corresponding to 59 EIAs.

It was followed by Panama, where 55 EIAs were submitted, totaling an investment of approximately $382 million. The projects include the construction of a residential complex that will house 329 housing units.

In Guatemala, 54 studies were submitted for work on different types of residential projects, for a total investment of approximately $285 million. One of the most important developments is the construction of a residential tower consisting of 225 apartments.

In the case of El Salvador, three projects were registered, with a combined investment of $34 million.

CentralAmericaData has information on construction projects planned in all Central American countries, with details such as estimated investment, project timing and phases, supplies and equipment required during and after construction, water treatment, parking structure, among others.
